Open: Tuesday – Sunday 09:00-17:00

Closed: Mondays (except those which are national holidays, make-up holidays, or election days) and Lunar New Year’s Eve/Day. Announcements to be made in case of irregular closures.

1. Those who wish to obtain discounted/free admission must present a related form of ID.
2. Those eligible for free admission must still obtain a ticket before entering the exhibition areas.
3. The above offers are available to both citizens and non-citizens of Taiwan.

●  Please do not climb or run in the exhibit areas so as not to disturb other visitors. 
●  No selfie sticks, tripod or flash photography.
●  No pets or dangerous articles.
●  No smoking.
●  If any type of emergency occurs (fire, earthquake, power outage, etc.), please follow evacuation instructions given by museum staff.

Walk	Bike	Car	Public transportation

Transportation Information

• Train: Get off at Kangle Station. It’s a 5-10 minute walk from there. 
• Car: On Section 4 of Zhongxing Road in Taitung City, turn onto Museum Road (the Yuen Foong Yu Paper Plant is at that intersection), which will bring you to the museum.
• Bus: Get on Shing Dong Bus 8115 at the Taitung Bus Station or Taitung Train Station and take it to the National Museum of Prehistory stop. This bus runs three times per day.
• Bike: Ride a YouBike from the Taitung train station or downtown (about 25 minutes).

Accessibility & Amenities

●  The information desk in the lobby has a lost and found as well as audio guides, strollers, wheelchairs, and walkers with seats that may be borrowed for free.
●  We provide a basic first aid kit, accessible areas, and accessible restrooms.

Snitya Studio

The Official Museum Gift Shop offers goods and books related to the museum, Indigenous handicrafts (clothing, hats, leather, woven articles, large hand-painted crafts, etc.)

Hoobi Bakery Cafe

This cozy cafe located overlooks the museum's beautiful grounds and blue central mountains. It offers baked goods, various types of salty/sweet toast spreads, cake, drinks, rice.
