The mission of the exhibition
The exhibition, “Scientific Archaeology”, is not only to provide an exploration of archaeology, but also to tell a story of archaeological practice. It introduces to the audience how archaeologists gradually discover, explore, and analyze archaeological materials, such as artifacts and features, using a scientific spirit and scientific techniques. In this exhibition, we do not present specific archaeological cultures or sites; instead, we discuss the processes archaeologists use to discover, analyze and explain archaeological materials.
This exhibition uses various scenes to reconstruct the atmospheres of archaeological sites. Using different cases, we gradually lead the audience to explore the processes through which archaeologists
Modern archaeology absorbs research methods from various disciplines to collect, record, and analyze archaeological materials, which leads to many unnoticed materials becoming the key to understanding the past. However, using scientific methods does not necessary mean scientific research. It is more important to explain the past through serious and logical processes.
