Mythological Tour

The Puyuma tribes settled nearby the Peinan Site are situated on a broad alluvial river terrace. The tribes face Tulan Mt. across the Peinan River on the north. At the distance of approximately 5 or 6 km to the east is the Pacific Ocean. At the west is the Peinan Mt., and at the south is the Taiping Brook. This paradise between the Peinan River and the Taiping Brook is the dwelling and farming site to Puyuma tribes in the old days.

Different legends were told in every Puyuma villlage. One legend tells, Tulan Mt. was the holy mountain for one of the Puyuma tribes, and the Peinan Site today was a forbidden site. These areas in the legend often had exciting stories, waiting for us to explore. By visiting these places in person or viewing from the Peinan Cultural Park, you can start a mythological journey through the wings of imagination.
